fix for 2nd stage pmap to work with slicing

This MR is to fix the second stage and get it to work with muli-pmaps slicing.

NOTE:L1 & L2 reviwers the test that is not the jenkins test is unrelated and I don't know how to turn off, I am working on getting rid of it ASSP but it is not related. That test has nothing to do with the code only the jenkins test does
