Create and Setup a new DBoD instance for dev clusters

The DBoD instance drupaldevclusters has been deleted from DBoD due to expiration.

As a consequence, Drupal websites on the development clusters will no longer function or be possible to provision new ones as they will not have a functional database.

To address this issue, we have two options to address it:

Option 1

We open a ticket to our colleagues, on the DBoD team, and request the restore of the deleted instance. As a follow-up, we request to make this instance production to avoid a accidental deletion in the future.

Option 2

We request a new DBoD instance, this time mark it as production to avoid expiration dates, and we set up the new credentials/configuration on the Vault and apply to a dev cluster to confirm. Once the instance is created and validated, please pass the ownership to Carina.

Source Materials

DBoD Portal: https://dbod.web.cern.ch/pages/dashboard
Resource Portal to be able to request DBoD Instances: https://auth-resources.web.cern.ch/

Should be PROD, and add drupal-admins as the Administrator egroup.

Validation

  • Set cluster with new credentials (optional)
  • DBoD Operator has the correct new credentials (optional)
  • New Drupal Website fully works (required)

After discussing wiht Christina, we have agreed we would go with Option 2 initially, to avoid unnecessary effort from our colleagues on restoring a resource that has no valuable data. This also becomes a learning opportunity to be more familiar with how we leverage DBoD on Drupal (which is likely to be similarly done on WordPress).
