test_spruce_check test throws: unexpected ERROR(62), exit code

The test_spruce_check test has been failing on master since the 27th of May, see here.

Compared to the previous day I see two sprucing related MRs that were merged: !833 (merged) and !841 (merged)

I'm not really sure what's going on so was hoping someone could have a look?
