Get rid of large monitoring histogram, or make them optional
The root files produced by alignment are very large and this starts to become a problem when processing events. This seems to be because we have introduced a couple of 2D histograms that were not there before. Here is a list of histograms with more than 1000 bins (see below). I added the names of authors that (I think) introduced the large histograms, excluding myself :-). (My apologies if I wrongly added your name.) It would be good if we could clean this up a bit, either by reducing the number of bins, or by making the histograms optional (where the default behaviour then is that the histogram is not produced.) The threshold of '1000' is a bit low, but there are also quite a few histograms below with more than 10k or even 100k or even 8M bins. (I think that latter is the culprit, so perhaps we should start with that.)
