Material handling for Surfaces and Volumes
Two different material descriptions are possible for acts
:
SurfaceMaterial
VolumeMaterial
Both will become virtual interfaces ISurfaceMaterial
and IVolumeMaterial
and the SurfaceMaterial
branch will be pretty much the same (currently).
The VolumeMaterial
we will follow also the possibility to have HomogenousVolumeMaterial
and BinnedVolumeMaterial
, and the already existing InterpolatedVolumeMaterial
. For the latter we would like to use the Cell
mechanism, similar to the magnetic field.
However, due to the different binning, we need to establish a variant Cell
type, which will be erased whenever the cell is updated.

is in MR !560 (merged) and the related issue #584 (closed) in order to establish the Surface material mapping structure and example.
