Updates to work with python 3.
Enable flake8 checking and fix warnings.

Also re-enable the unit tests, which were disabled probably during the move
to cmake, and get them working again.

Remove reference to nonexistent file.

In order to be able to find Qt5 "early enough" it's not possible
anymore to wait for AthenaExternals with setting up the LCG release,

44c0b4bc fix compilation warnings in MuonSimEvent

Fix thread-safety cheker warning.

Also remove tests of invalid identifiers.
These were causing an assertion failure in debug builds, but even in
ooptimized builds, they were resulting in out-of-bounds array accesses.

 - Unused variable.
