Making sure nevents is an integer

Zach Marshall requested to merge zmarshal/athena:21.6_MGC_Nevent_Int into 21.6

This has caught a few people, so here centrally making sure that nevents is indeed an integer, and making sure that the print out is clear (I love complete sentence output, but probably a period at the end of this particular line is not useful).
