Behavior of the OptoHybrid SEM and TMR
Hi @apeck,
we recently added some archiving of the SEM and TMR error counters at p5... and the results are quite interesting! First of all, we have not yet seen any SEU on GE1/1. I know the TMR is quite reduced compared to GE2/1, but the SEM IP core should be scrubbing for errors, right?
On GE2/1 though, we are seeing many events, probably too many. On plot [1], you can see the record of the corrected and critical SEU counters and the sum of the TMR error counters. After programming the OptoHybrid FPGA, even in the absence of collisions, the TMR error counter increases rapidly while the SEU counters remain at 0. Screenshot [2] shows a typical example where a single TMR maxes out. This looks suspicious to me. Could it be a frmware bug somewhere in the TMR?
Still on GE2/1, one can see corrected SEU on OH0-2 in the screenshot [2]. I am not sure I was expecting so many SEU in GE2/1, but the increasing behavior in eta is rather clear. The screenshot [3] shows the evolution with time, which is almost linearly increasing. So, it looks like we have genuine SEU on GE2/1... but not on GE1/1. That looks suspicious as well to me.
Could you have a look at some point? Thank you!
