Checklist for FEST 09/2021

• Fix output from online data buffer to disk or (temporary) online storage. Currently no events produced by Allen are consumed. Possibly a simple fix is to use EVENT_TYPE_EVENT instead of EVENT_TYPE_BURST when calling mbm_declare_event.
• Handle error banks: #268 (closed)
• Add routing bits raw bank: #109 (closed) (for FEST we need to set at least on bit for example for HLT1Physics)
• Implement pass-through mode for Allen -> done in !650 (merged)
• Fix errors when processing FEST sample (see #253 (closed))

This is in preparation for the beam test in October (see #269 (closed))

Thanks for preparing this! Suggest to link to #269 (closed) as they are somehow sequential even though the exercises partially test different things

During the tests for the PRR Allen was seen to be outputting events to the shared memory buffer, but the events were not consumed when the online disk writing application was included. The mismatch in the event type could explain that.

One the application that writes to the (temporary) online storage is available this needs to be checked/debugged together.

The Allen application is started by ECS by running this script:

To build a stack (or a subset of projects) that includes a device build of Allen some specific CMAKEFLAGS need to be set. The attached env.sh file can be used as an example for other installations.

The environment setup file (e.g. /path/to/MooreOnline/setup.x86_64_v2-centos7-gcc10-opt.vars) is produced from a stack build as follows (change the BINARY_TAG as needed):

cd /path/to/MooreOnline
CMAKEFLAGS="" ALL_CMT_PLATFORMS="x86_64-centos7-clang11-opt" cmsetup

The following script starts the Allen application: /group/online/dataflow/cmtuser/OnlineRelease/Online/FarmConfig/job/Allen.sh It must be in this location with this specific name. Please note that the OnlineRelease directory is a symlink to the latest Online satellite area. The symlink changes when a new version of Online is put into production.
