Add ToolHandles to DaVinciSmartAssociator and BackgroundCategory

Claire Prouve requested to merge Claire_ToolHandle into master

Replace the pointers to tools with ToolHandles.

@pkoppenb @erodrigu @apearce Could you check how you like the names I gave the Toolhandles?
