   - use ToolHandle for readout tool
- prefer standalone functions in anonymous namespaces over member functions

The intention being to measure the impact (if any) on throughput with a
modern compiler

also update version to 53.0

- remove inheritance from CommonMessaging in DetectorElement.
  It is not used (due to the fact that the automatic 'name' prefix
  in the output is not very usefull for DetectorElements.
- prefer boost::string_ref over std::string in interface to
  avoid creating temporary strings
- prefer compiler generated copy constructor

- replaced `DECLARE_*_FACTORY` with `DECLARE_COMPONENT` or `DECLARE_CONVERTER`
- made constructors public
- removed some unnecessary _disabling_ of copy constructors
- removed some trivial destructors
