Lumi line for vdM scan in September
This is to summarise the discussion on the needs of the lumi line(s) for the vdM scan in September (week starting the 19/09).
Our full wish-list includes:
- HLT1 counters: velo (clusters, tracks, vertices), muons (hits), calo (total energy deposited and multiplicity, not LLT ), scifi(clusters), GEC (yes/no)
- HLT2 counters: plume (over-threshold bits, possibly ADC counts, can be moved to HLT1 if HLT1 PLUME decoding will be ready), rich (hits) Not all counters might be ready, but the more are included the better (for cross-calibration checks). The readiness depends on decoding and HLT1 lumi-line. No counters are implemented yet in the HLT2 lumi line
In terms of banks we would like to output the raw banks for the lumi summary + odin + prescaled full raw data (for offline cross checks). If the counters to add in the lumi summary for some detectors are not ready, one can think of writing its raw banks with a smaller prescale, if this is affordable. (In the future, we will try to optimise on this and to output the minimum)
VdM nano-events in Run 2 were written at 45 kHz. Typically, there are roughly 25 beam-beam, 50 beam-empty and 50 empty-beam crossings in vdM fills.
The main questions from our side are:
- what's the sustainable rate
- what's the backup plan in case not all the detectors included in the previous list are ready by the time of the scan
- can the line, or a version of the line with only detectors currently smoothly operating in global, be tested in advance while saving also all the raw banks (eg. with prescale) in order to check everything works from our side
