change to kaniko 1.23.2 which uses oci mediatype layer, which is the most common on the latest releases. having a mix of layers for some other containers is problematic, for instance I was getting an error when building the same image using apptainer. in general podman docker are updated to deal with is. this is the new layer 2 scheme 2. refered as v2s2, option for podman at some moment to allow handling and converting these. In fact, I think kaniko is now able to convert the layers when necessary.
