Provide -9999 as base value for negative nominators

Steffen Korn requested to merge improve_pT_scaling_speed into master

Previously the calculation of individual logarithms slowed down the pT-based scaling calculations.

This has been corrected now. The logarithm is now applied on the entire column at once leading to significant performance improvements for the pT-based scaling approach w.r.t. time.
