enabled an automatic merge when the pipeline for 954ca666 succeeds

Update: I just tested your fix, @jojungge , with my usual tests and everything works fine again.

So, personally, I'm happy with this fix.

I'll later add my usual tests to the new suite of tests we just created today, and I'll add a command to run that from our CI as the last step.
