Add tests and some at-declaration initialisers for members

Investigating what caused !419 (merged) to break the Run3 from-SQLite test; this MR introduces the initialisation of member variables contained in that MR and a series of tests to detect their values. As far as I can tell, these do not break the same test (now introduced in the CI by @tsulaia ) and can be merged.
