add more explicit error messages to the pic2 analysis

As Zinur was running the validation notebook for the pic2 analysis, it was difficult for him to know why some analysis that used to be passing with edsl are now failing. To simplify the validation of the new analysis, I added some more explicit warning messages in case of failure of the analysis to easily identify the cause of it.
