While working on !117 I noticed that Black was complaining about the
Python code format, but didn't break the CI. For this commit, I fixed
wrongly formatted code and added --check in the CI config to make it
fail upon formatting mistakes.

This reverts commit dc51af1e.

Installing the commands had been inadvertently removed. Also simplify
the configure_call() used to copy to build/ by setting source
permissions.
