DepositionCosmics: incidence area size selection
If the incidence area size in DepositionCosmics is set improperly, some of the primary particles would be lost as they are generated outside the world box thus are terminated instantly. This leads to having multiple completely empty events (and less actual events than a user would expect). Not super easy to track down -- I only discovered this after digging into raw MCTrack outputs.
The area size that is automatically derived from the setup dimensions (rounded up to 1m) is sub-optimal, especially for small setups -- in this case vast majority of particles would be lost.
So, I would suggest:
- Display a warning if the particle incidence area does not fit to the world box.
- Probably change formula for the automatic area selection (e.g, select a minimum square that covers all the world box).
- Add a note on that in the module description.
