Revert "Merge branch 'coolcoral_workdir' into 'master'"

@fwinkl, I tested that the latest Athena nightly can be used to build COOL/CORAL needing packages without this hack as well. !47699 (merged) seems to have done its job. 😉

I guess I should mention ATLINFR-4302 as well for completeness...
