Revert "Merge branch '23.0_data23_cosmics' into '23.0'"

This reverts merge request !64238 (merged) , as it's frequently causing FPEs in the CI (not at the same events from MR to MR, so not 100% reproducible, but hopefully frequently enough for debugging).
