Fix !71881 for running in derivation train

Giovanni Marchiori requested to merge gmarchio/athena:gmarchio-main-20250604-DFEGam2FixTrigMatch into main

The changes introduced in !71881 (merged) make a derivation train fail because CA tries to merge two tools with different settings. This MR reverts those changes and implements an alternative solution
