Simplified configuration
Description
This MR aims at simplifying the configuration process, particularly in the case of a bootstrap. This is achieved in two ways:
- The firmware can be taken straight from the artifacts repository published here: https://cmsgemos.web.cern.ch/repos/firmware/ It should provide better integration between the firmware and
cmsgemos
, allowing patches if needed (e.g. register renaming, lpGBT file format), easier deployment, and better traceability. - It is now possible to configure the whole system without providing any back-end and front-end configuration files. Hardware, firmware, and software defaults are being used. No effort is made from the data quality point of view.
Warning: some paths have been renamed from gem
to cmsgemos
for better coherency and to avoid possible name conflicts with the Ruby GEMs.
Also includes a bug-fix against reg.py
crashes upon write error.

How Has This Been Tested?
Using the b904 GE1/1 integration setup with and without configuration is seamless. The rates are similar with respect to the previous structure.
