Messaging cleanups

Clean up some (old) text issues in docstrings and error messages, and make the new warning message in HepMC3-config less prescriptive: it's not the place to tell users to use CMake, and we have no plan to remove it so shouldn't be outputting scary messages along those lines... anything might be deleted in future! Hopefully this is an acceptable middle ground.
