Draft: Improvements for Run 4/5 Composite Corrugated RF Foil Geometry

Work is beginning on improving the description of a potential Run 4/5 corrugated foil design, with a few simple additions on the existing code. The work is envisaged in a few parts:

  • Add corrugations at z locations other than the station z, with control of this from parameters.xml
  • (Not doing for now) Emulate the "cylindrical core" described on page 4 here intended to reduce material for tracks from the IP
  • Add a new material(s) for a "vacuum holding composite RF foil", suitable for Run 4 foil, in addition to the Nominal and Thinner materials currently in the sim
  • Organise these options so they can be simply selected between as in !649
  • Code cleanup (comments, old tests etc.)

Implementing the cylindrical core to the design spec may be too complex for a simple implementation, and if the CAD->Geometry conversion work is successful this will be skipped.
