[Draft] BforSpectroscopy optimization

aiming to be merged with !4070 (merged)

Optimization of BforSpectroscopy lines based on analysis of latest 2024 data (24c4_magdown).

Ensure following things (though some of which were already implemented in previous commits to bandq_development_2025)

  • B->D+hadrons channels

    • average MIPCHI2 of D-daughter hadrons > 16

    • average MIPCHI2 of B-daughter hadrons > 16

    • D_BPVIPCHI2 > 4

    • for B->Dhh & Dhhh modes:

      • B_BPVIPCHI2 < 20
      • tight cut on |m(D)-mD_pdg|<30(25) for D0->Kpi (D0->K3pi and all other charm hadrons)
    • for B->Dh modes:

      • lower left limit on m(B) by ~250 MeV to include D*h modes, increase upper limit by 50 MeV to allow more background for training and fits
    • may want to try release two cuts with monitoring the increase in rate/BW:

      • change z(D)-z(B) from > 0.0mm to > -2.0mm;
      • change B_sumPT from >5.0 GeV to 4.0 GeV for B+/B0 and for other b-hadrons accordingly;
  • Jpsi+X channels

    • Jpsi_DLS>3, use detached_jpsi for all lines including Bc decays
    • for all channels except for B+->JpsiK+ and psi(2S)K+
      • put tight cut 3020<m(Jpsi)<3135 or 3600<m(psi2S)<3730
      • average MINIPCHI2 of muons from psi > 9
      • minimum PROBNN_MU > 0.05 (removes 25-35% of bkg while keeping ~98% of signal)
    • average MINIPCHI2 of hadrons from B > 9
    • release left limit on m(B) by 100 MeV
  • additional cuts for Bc->JpsiPi / Jpsi3Pi lines:

    • tight cuts on Jpsi (see above)
    • PT(pi)>0.4 GeV
    • MINIPCHI2(pi)>6
    • average MINIPCHI2 of pions > 20
    • for Jpsi3pi mode (due to enormously high background rate):
      • sum PT of pions > 2.0 GeV
      • B_BPVIPCHI2 < 9
