New PID_E cut in make_b2egammanu_cnvll() and make_b2egammanu_cnvdd()
We propose to lower the PID_E cut from 0.0 to -2.0 in the HbToLLLNu builders make_b2egammanu_cnvll() and make_b2egammanu_cnvll.
In the Run 3 analysis of the decays B(_c)+ -> l+ nu_l gamma (-> e+ e-) we plan to use both muons and electrons as l, so we need a way to estimate the fake-mu and fake-e contributions. Since we do not have dedicated fake-mu and fake-e lines, the idea is to get the fake-lepton background from the left tail of the PID_MU/PID_E distribution. So, we need to have a lower PID_E cut, while the PID_MU is fine (this method is already implemented in the Run 2 analysis).
Studying the rate variation with 200k events taken from the hlt2_bandwidth_input_2024 test file (input rate of 1193 kHz), we get the following results.
Bachelor-electron channels
LL
- PID_E > 0.0 -> 11.93 Hz
- PID_E > -2.0 -> 11.93 Hz
DD
- PID_E > 0.0 -> 11.93 Hz
- PID_E > -2.0 -> 29.825 Hz
