Draft: add Arthur-rebased work [ to review a bit ] in squashing FT+MP tracks cheated and have a better container for checking

Based on ```arthur_u2_downstream``` trying to cherry pick changes to ensure FT + MP can work together.

@ahennequ feel free to comment on changes done in this code, it's a rebased version of your branch i tried to work on top , but not yet finished
